Sheboygan, Wisconsin: America's Tallest Flagpole

Erected by the Acuity Insurance Co. Almost 100 feet taller than the Statue of Liberty. The 400-foot-tall flagpole weighs approximately 420,000 pounds. It flies two versions of a 60x120-foot American flag, one weighing 220 pounds during nice weather, another weighing 350 pounds during harsh weather. Each star is three feet high and each stripe is 4.5 feet wide. 680 cubic yards of concrete were used to anchor the pole, which is covered in over 500 gallons of paint. Three pendulum-style tuned mass dampers reduce movement and vibration, and the pole is designed to withstand temperatures as low as -42 degrees Fahrenheit. There is a memorial at the base of the flagpole.

Unfortunately the Largest American Flag that could be seen from I-43 between Milwaukee and Green Bay, WI, outside Acuity Insurance, has been taken down. They were enhancing the base and had problems with it swaying too much. It is unknown when or it it will be rebuilt.

Sheboygan is located between Milwaukee and Green Bay on I-43 with beautiful views of Lake Michigan behind it. Visible from the interstate, outside Acuity Insurance (which has architecture and large suspended glass balls worth viewing), is the country's largest American Flag Pole (338 ft, 6 ft wide at its base). Atop it is a 300-pound flag measuring 60x120 feet that features 3-foot-wide stars and 4.5-foot-high stripes, It is visible for miles and miles and was erected a few years ago.

The first one (at only half this one's size) fell, missing the road, and it was rebuilt in 2005 and is amazing to see! Every time we pass it, we are awestruck at its beauty.
