Waterwheel

The Florida Tech garden stream waterwheel has now been removed after some eight years operation. I don't have time to upgrade the parts, etc. For others, the hard part is keeping the bearings from wearing out, but most of the treated wood wheel lasted quite well.

Tallest Wind Turbine in Florida

Florida Institute of Technology has a wind turbine mounted on top of a seven-story building. The center of the blades is 103 ft. above the ground. The turbine is ten feet in diameter and rated at 1000 watts power. This is a research system that doesn't power the Grid, but produces data.

You may also see a two ft diameter stream-powered waterwheel-electric system in the Botanical Gardens. Park near the flag pole at the Administration Building.
