Pete the Talking Crow must be broken, as his red talk button is covered in plastic. But Pete is still on exhibit.
[Jody High, 08/24/2020]After years of unwelcome silence, Pete, the Legendary Talking Crow of Georgetown, has begun talking again. Pete, who is a robot crow, had been mute ever since a lightning strike fried his motor several years ago. But according to the Georgetown College News, Pete's hardware and software have been repaired and updated by Georgetown alumnus Michael McCord, who now also supplies Pete's prerecorded voice. This is a significant improvement for Pete, because even before the lightning strike he only spoke in Japanese, having been reprogrammed for a Georgetown "sister city" visit to Japan and then never un-reprogrammed.
The original Pete, in whose memory the robot was built, only spoke English, and was shot to death in 1832.
