Worth seeing this quirky sign and historical place. We were grateful to the tipster who mentioned Mr. D'z across the street. Thanks to them, we enjoyed a delicious homemade root beer and the best milkshake and malt!

This is what I love about Roadside America. So often we track down what appears to be a somewhat insignificant attraction, and end up being rewarded with more we than expected. As is the case with our detour to the 3,333.33 Feet Above Sea Level marker. The marker is attached to the Kingman Visitor Center/Route 66 Museum. The Center had plenty of parking (even for our motorhome), excellent area information, clean restrooms, and interesting Route 66 displays. To top it off, we were able to walk across the street and have some homemade root beer at Mr. D'z Route 66 Diner.
The Sea Level Marker sign is the white plaque on the right side of the Center's entry door. Don't miss noticing the actual marker, a metal bolt sunk into the building above the top edge of the sign.
[Gary Epperson, 10/19/2012]Kingman's old powerhouse now serves as the Powerhouse Museum, which houses a Route 66 Museum and visitor's center, as well as being home to the Arizona Route 66 Association. The building was home to the Desert Power & Water Company from 1907-1911. The bolt is located to the right of the door above the Historical Society plaque.

A bolt near the main entrance to the Powerhouse (Kingman, Arizona's visitor center) marks 3,333.33 feet above sea level. The Powerhouse is the city's former electric generation station, located off Old Route 66, and has since been converted into a museum and visitor center. Just to the right of the front door, and about 12 feet from the ground is the bolt and a nondescript sign.
