Both the fruitcake and the bacon are still there and are attended by an older gentleman who was funny and full of local knowledge. A fun stop.

The 66-year-old slab of bacon sits in the room adjacent to the 104-year-old fruitcake in the Hurricane Valley Heritage Museum. The fruitcake I can understand, but it's hard to understand how someone could forget bacon!

The now 104-year-old fruitcake is still there. Yikes. It sits in a glass cake server among a whole host of pioneer-era artifacts. Great little museum. Don't miss the 66-year-old slab of bacon in the other room!

[Stephanie, 07/19/2010]In the Hurricane Museum - Visitor Information Center in downtown Hurricane, Utah, a very nice collection of local pioneer antiques and memorabilia includes, in a glass cake restaurant display case, a fruitcake that was about 97 years old in 2004. It is an amazing object, with a lovely patina of grayish green (verdi-gris) all over its surface, and a towering testament to the durability and overall edibility of fruitcakes everywhere.
Whenever we visit Zion National Park (just a half-hour ride away), we stop in to see the centenarian fruitcake, and the great people who curate the museum.
