The restaurant closed in 1991, but much of the complex - including all of the original Kapok Tree garden - is still open to the public. See the insanely gi-normous Kapok Tree, many steps and columns, statues and fountains. Sam Ash Music now occupies the old Entrance Mall, Gift Shops, Gallery Room, and Patio Room. From their parking lot, you will see a sign for Kapok Special Events - this is the entrance to the Kapok Tree gardens. Still open, still beautiful in that ersatz European way.
