On dry land, but it looks as if it was once designed as a decoy for giant loons. Built in 2005 as a parade float.

A mother loon with a chick on her back, probably originally for a community event. There are windows for someone inside the loon to see out, and there is a tow bar attached. An inscription on the back reads "P[ark]R[apids] Chamber/Shilson '05."

There is a large loon statue, complete with baby loon on its back, at the visitor's center on the edge of town.

The loon was built as a parade float in 2005. For years it was parked in a prominent spot beneath fluttering flags, but in 2015 it vanished. The Chamber of Commerce told us it was gone. Evidently it was only gone a few hundred feet, to a less-visible location.
