Waffle House griddles.

September 5, 1955: First Waffle House opens

September 5, 1955: The first Waffle House opened in Decatur, Georgia in 1955, and gradually swelled into a chain that spread its batter rivulets across the South. The original restaurant rebooted as a museum in 2008. Can't eat there, but you can sit in the booths, study the historical relics, and play the Waffle House jukebox, stocked with songs such as "Last Night I Saw Elvis at the Waffle House."

Waffle House Museum

Thanks to your site I noticed the Waffle House museum was going to be open to the public once a month. We went last Sunday and were delighted by what we found. Lots of great photo ops and a tour by the daughter of the builder of Waffle House #1.
