The Merry-Go-Round Museum has an awesome exhibit with beautiful animals and vintage pieces. You also get to ride on a historic carousel. They have tour guides on Thursdays who are extremely knowledgeable.

What a charming find. We learned so much about the history of carousels and have a new appreciation for the art of carving them. The staff at the museum are passionate about the collection and offered a wealth of information. Their gift shop is truly addictive. The carousel you get to ride hasn't been slowed down from its original, intended speed, so it's a great ride! Who knew that British carousel animals face the opposite direction from American animals?

Forget your troubles and relive your childhood, if not for a few moments. Cost $6 dollars to get in, but you get a free ride, plus it's only $1 for all others. The are many classic animals to see and ride, plus you can watch new ones being made. The employees knew a lot of history about merry go rounds.
Great gift shop too. Plus it's right outside a beautiful Sandusky park.
[Mari, 05/12/2011]What a blast! Got to ride a historic merry-go-round that is in the middle of the museum, visited with woodcarvers making a carousel horse, saw the old Euclid Beach carousel horses on display and learned all kinds of things about the art. Had a terrific tour and their gift shop had everything related to merry-go-rounds! Affordable (less than $20 for four of us) and it included the ride.
