Florence, Kentucky: Florence Y'all Water Tower

The Florence Mall water tower went up long before the mall was built, so its impatient owners changed the "Mall" to "Y'all" -- and it's still there.

Designed to be visible from I-75/71, but it's much safer to take exit 181, drive west, then turn left into the Florence Mall and admire it from there.

TRIVIA: Florence Mall is close by. Without permission, "Florence Mall" was painted onto the water tower. Ordered to remove the advertisement, someone brainstormed a SOLUTION!

Florence Y'all Water Tower

Florence Y'all -- When the Florence Mall in Boone County was laid out in the 1960s, the first thing built was a huge water tower. Since this was visible from I-75, they decided to promote the mall by painting Florence Mall on the tower. However, someone decided that it was illegal to "advertise" something that didn't exist, so they were directed to repaint the tower. Instead of going to the expense of a complete repainting, the mall owners changed the "Mall" to read "Y'all." The Florence Y'all sign on the water tower became so well known that it was not changed back to Mall when the mall finally opened.
