I have some sad news to report. I just stopped by the Cookie Cutter Museum this afternoon and it is no longer open. The woman who owned it passed away just over a year ago. I spoke with one of her sons, who still lives on the property, and he said there are no plans to open the museum again. He is currently pawning all of the museum items.
[Casey Jones, 11/18/2011]When I called the museum on July 1, 2010, an elderly woman answered and said that she had not been open since May because she was sick. Just a friendly reminder to call first.

On State Route 8 just west of Poland, NY (in the Adirondacks) there's a Cookie Cutter Museum. You can select from among thousands of styles to buy (as well as recipes, fudge, and yard doodads), and in the back is a room devoted to the history and variety of the tool. The proprietress will give you a learned chronology of cutters, including all the ones you remember from childhood and replicas as far back as the 17th century.
