Fischer's Meat Market Glockenspiel
Was really looking forward to the Glockenspiel, but was disappointed when we got to the market and nothing happened. Not sure if the metal "Meat Market" sign on the balcony has replaced the animated event or not. I sent an email to the establishment inquiring about the Glockenspiel. If I hear back, I'll be sure to post!
[Tammy Norton, 01/26/2014]We were here May 31, 2013 and were told that the clock must be turned on in order for it to work. We asked if it was turned on and were told it is only turned on my management and manager was not available. Oh well -- on to the next city!

We stopped here at 6 pm [on Memorial Day]. The clock made no sound and no figures came out. In fact, it looked like the sign was blocking the doors.
[Kelly Hamilton, 05/28/2013]Well that's a crazy waste of a glockenspiel...but they might have had special holiday hours. According to their website: "Fischer's Glockenspiel is played during operating hours, every hour on the hour."
The Glockenspiel is broken. When a cashier in the store was asked about it, we were told "This is a grocery store, not a clock store."
[C.J. Mason, 09/22/2009]The cashier must've been having a bad day (as we all sometimes do). When last we checked -- May 2012 -- the Glockenspiel was working fine.
This attraction is the only one like it in Texas, and thought to be one of only three glockenspiels in the United States. I grew up in Muenster, Texas. This glockenspiel represents the kind-hearted, hard working attitude of Fischer's Meat Market and the beautiful German-oriented town of Muenster.
Fischer's Glockenspiel hourly plays traditional German celebration music and features seven animated, rotating characters, from a sausage man to a king.
