Parked right next to Big Ole. Big Ole is huge. Great for pictures. Nice little park. Lovely, clean bathrooms for a break.

This is Alexandria's alternative to all the huge Paul Bunyans you will see throughout the state. There is a controversy over whether or not ancient Vikings actually visited Minnesota by way of the Hudson Bay and left a carved Runestone in this area. Nevertheless, it's big fun to take your photo with Big Ole (pronounced Oh-Lee). You really have not completed your visit to Alexandria if you don't visit him.

Very tall statue of Viking explorer. A runestone was found in the 1800s outside of town, and the nearby Kensington Runestone Museum does a nice job a educating visitors about the stone and Viking history in Minnesota.
