The gas station is now a BP. If you're on the forecourt of the station, you can't see the head because it's blocked from view by the food truck. Don't lose hope. Go around behind the food truck, right at the intersection of the two roads, and there it is.

Moai.

Easter Island Head

The Easter Island Head, or Moai, has been given a new coat of paint and a topknot, known as a pukao. Also, eyes have been added in the traditional manner. A plate at its base notes that it was "Donated by Nelson Mezza to the Chilean Community 1993."

It's next to a gas station, currently a Valero. There are picnic tables next to it that may be associated with the food truck that is also on that corner, but the food truck always seems to be closed.

The Easter Island Head is fairly well-kept except, unfortunately, the left side that is dented in. My pediatric practice recently moved to Kensington and I was pleasantly surprised to discover that our office is very close to it!

Easter Island Head

The Easter Island Head has moved from Wheaton to Kensington. It's at the Getty gas station on University Boulevard West at Lexington Street. The paint job looks new, but sadly, someone has bashed the head in on the right side.

Easter Island Head

The Easter Island Head has reappeared at a gas station in Kensington on University Blvd (heading east) just beyond where Connecticut Avenue splits off from University. He got a new paint job yesterday and looks just dandy and brand spanking new!
