Miraculous Giant Healing Buddhist Statue

The giant gold Buddha is in a building that was locked when we got there. There were other visitors, so we didn't feel too self conscious wandering around the very peaceful statues. All signs are in Vietnamese, and there was a wonderful aroma of burning incense, left as offerings at many of the statues.

Miraculous Giant Healing Buddhist Statue

We visited the Miraculous Giant Buddhist Statue on Dec 7, 2015. The grounds are very impressive to look at and enjoy. Very clean, and there were no other visitors when we were there. I only wish we had more information on the meaning of the beautiful statues.

I got a very peaceful feeling walking down the lane of statues; however, my husband was ready to go, when a friendly dog appeared wearing a white t-shirt. The dog gave us the once-over and followed us for the rest of the tour.

Miraculous Healing Giant Buddhist Statue

A 24-foot-tall, 60-ton white marble statue of Quan yin, an "Enlightened One," is part of a Buddhist meditation center in the Mojave Desert. The planned $15 million temple is the vision of a senior citizen monk, Thich Dang "Tom" Phap, who lives next to the statue in a trailer. The Quan yin statue attracts many Buddhist visitors, who believe that it possesses healing powers and radiates a white light.

The center's walkway features statues of 18 other Enlightened Ones.
