Jack Pershing, Stuffed WWI Patriot Rooster

Too mean for the farm, he became a World War I celebrity that raised $40,000 for the Doughboys. He was later stuffed and was a popular museum exhibit.

Jack Pershing Rooster - In Storage

The Des Moines Historical Society no longer displays the rooster, but has many other wonders: an iron lung, a collection of "sand paintings," and a giant Lego model of Iowa's tallest building. Plus a woolly mammoth!
