The offical Johnstown Flood Memorial is not located in South Fork, but in Sidman, which is about 2 or 3 miles away.I also saw on here that someone said the Flood began in South Fork, which is incorrect. It began in Sidman, which at the time had been completely underwater. The whole town of what is Sidman now, was the lake.
The Clubhouse and about 3 other of the original houses still stand. You can tour the clubhouse, but the houses are privately owned, however, the people who own the houses are pretty friendly and will show you exactly where the water came up to! They could fish off their porch if the lake was still there! You can walk along the remains of the earthen dam, and on a foggy night, a ghost lake sometimes appears! Very spooky.
