Gift shop reopened. Fascinating. Wear walking shoes! Stained glass windows are beautiful. Mr. Bishop was not there. The drive to Bishop Castle was beautiful and snow covered.

You can scale very high up the manmade stairs and bridges. I was too scared to walk them, but my son did. Jim Bishop is always there on the grounds, but be prepared to enter a never-ending one-sided conversation with him. He is a genuinely unique, intelligent individual.

Their gift shop burned down, so if possible, try to donate to the box next to the large stair case that takes you into the castle.

A fire, cause unknown, swept through the area and destroyed the Castle gift shop on March 28. The stone castle was unaffected by the flames, but authorities closed it temporarily until their investigations were complete.

Amazing castle, unbelievable that it's all man made by one man. 50 years of work. Awe-inspiring. Parking is just alongside the highway in both directions.
