30 feet tall, used to light up at night. Looks like a giant's hat from a bad sword and sorcery film.

This mushroom lives on an island guarded by cranes, from what we could see when we pulled up from behind on CR M. Gotta love large tributes to fungi.
[L. V., 10/26/2016]We drove by earlier this week, and while the morel mushroom can still be seen from the highway, it is becoming quickly overgrown by foliage. I can only guess that since the sign with the web address has been removed that the business is defunct and the giant mushroom is no longer being maintained.
[Kara Foster, 08/24/2015]You need to go past Hwy 71 north past Nevada, MO. Turn East on right on Hwy M and take diary right. Follow around to the back of the mushroom.

The mushroom is 30 ft. tall. Can't say we care for that honking big web URL sign. That's a bad precedent for giant food (or any) statues. Makes this mushroom, if not poisonous, much less delectable as a photo op! Note: It lights up at night -- and so does the web sign. June 2014: The web address sign has been removed!
