The site of the American Police Museum, 1717 S State, has been occupied for the last six years by a dog boarding and grooming business called Doggone Fun. This neighborhood has gentrified significantly in the last decade, and a doggy daycare center is more in line with the new South Loop tastes than a kick-ass police museum. If you want to visit a real live Chicago Police station, you can walk across the street to the new CPD hub.
[lizew0613, 08/19/2009]The American Police Museum in Chicago at 1717 S. State St has closed. There is a sign in the window that states "We have moved to an unknown location.". There is now a carpet store there. The building is still a painted like the old museum and they still have a mannequin of Al Capone in the lobby. They still have highway signs pointing there. The people inside said that they moved in three months ago and they knew nothing of the museum's new location.
