A short hike from the parking lot gets you to the top of the hill to see the Atomic Cannon. There are also several other pieces of retired military equipment that you run across on the path.
[Matt Ritzler, 12/17/2024]If you choose to climb up to the Atomic Cannon, you may be greeted, as I was, by a local deputy sheriff upon your descent. He will politely ask for ID and tell you the park is considered part of Fort Riley, that the cannon is considered part of the park and the park is closed. I suggest visiting one of the other atomic cannons still on display.

Park is closed, but you can park in front of the closed sign and walk in a little bit.

The Atomic Cannon is easy to get to. There is a tank and two other cannons on the trail.
