My family and I were on one of the scenic bike tours. We came upon the Hannah Dustin statue, and I'm not aware if anyone knows what happened to it. We were all very sad to see that somebody would do that.

The statue appears to have been cleaned up a little -- which makes the contrast between her nose and the rest of her face stronger. Her nose is currently intact, although rather black and frost-bitten in appearance. Aside from a good view of the rhinoplasty, from this angle she seems to be smiling a little in anticipation of the scalp bounty.

Hannah Duston was kidnapped during a 1697 Abenaki raid. The raiders killed her baby, so she killed nine of them (six of them children). The 1874 statue of Hannah is supposedly the first in the U.S. to a real woman. It has been vandalized many times.
