Irvine, California: Hangman's Tree Monument

Marks the spot where "two banditos" were strung up in 1857. This forgotten monument to vigilante justice was rediscovered when a 2007 wildfire fire burned away the brush.

About 100 yards from Hwy 241/Foothill Toll Rd, near the end of Presida Canyon Rd. Behind a gate; call the Irvine Ranch Conservancy if you want to join one of the tours.
Accessible via Conservancy tour. (Call to verify) Local health policies may affect hours and access.
