More of an above-ground waterfall diorama than an underground well, this Chinatown landmark and its 10 lucky targets have been vacuuming up sharpshooting visitor's pocket change since 1938. Constructed as the centerpiece of Los Angeles' first outdoor mall, the fortune of both the deteriorating well and shuttered local businesses seems to be waning.
If you do take aim at the labeled targets, don't get greedy. "Lotto"- fine. "Happy"- great. "Wisdom" AND "Beauty"... That's pushing it, bub.

Entropy is taking its toll on the wishing well. The cement structure is slowly falling apart (large cracks, faded signage) and it has been painted green for some reason. But, it's in a wonderful place -- Chinatown -- and that alone makes it worth visiting.
