Topeka, Kansas: Humerus Osteopathic Statue (Gone)
We, too, didn't know what to make of this sculpture. It was Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, founder of the "wellness" doctrine of Osteopathic medicine -- a serious man, holding a humerus bone. The Osteopathic Association that commissioned it had moved out by 2023, and took Dr. Still with them.

Sadly, the statue appears to no longer be in this location. The garden is there, but it appears to be part of a private business now.

The formerly missing bronze sculpture of Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, M.D. has been returned to its garden and is available to be enjoyed by the public once again. The bust is located in the small bricked courtyard next to the Kansas Osteopathic Association building in Topeka. It's still a humorous site to bone up on Osteopathic philosophy!
[Phil Pasquini, 12/07/2019]Drove by, but the statue was not out. There is a lovely garden area all around the mount the statue would have been on, but no bust. The locally famous Giant Wren is right down the road though, and it was there.

A little known bronze sculpture of Dr. Andrew Taylor Still, M.D. resides in a small well groomed bricked courtyard next to the Kansas Osteopathic Association building in Topeka. The serious well groomed doctor is posed holding a Humerus bone in his right hand. The statue honors his founding the "wellness" philosophy of Osteopathic medicine in 1874. Doctor Still developed a holistic approach to the prevention and diagnosis of disease and injury by treating the entire body's bones, muscles, nerves and organs.
This is a humorous site to bone up on Osteopathic philosophy!
