I went to the Memorial and also found a Freddy Fender Museum. It is housed in San Benito with two other museums. I was there on a Saturday and the tour was given by Freddie's brother, Jose. It was most informative and I found Jose to be charming and knowledgeable. I would recommend a stop at the museum for any Freddy Fender fan.
[Celia R, 11/28/2012]Freddy "Before the Next Teardrop Falls" Fender had a music career that spanned 50 years. His museum displays many one-of-a-kind items, including two of Freddy's gold records, his Harley-Davidson motorcycle, and a jar of his home-made picante sauce.
Freddy Fender's hometown of San Benito has honored his final resting place with a new memorial. The new cemetery named San Benito Memorial Park was dedicated on June 6, 2009.
