Marilyn Monroe's Forever Neighbor: Hugh Hefner

Playboy's founder, Hugh Hefner, had the foresight to feature the then unknown Marilyn Monroe as the nude centerfold in the December 1953 inaugural issue of his magazine. Monroe became a giant Hollywood star, while Hefner created a publishing and lifestyle empire from his classy girlie magazine. Monroe died unexpectedly in 1962. Hefner died in 2017, 55 years later, not as unexpectedly. He had the foresight to reserve a crypt spot just to the left of Monroe's at Westwood Village Memorial Park Cemetery.

Fans can visit both.

Marilyn's crypt is now a different color shade than the surrounding crypts. It is easier to find from a distance.

Hollywood star Marilyn Monroe, tragically dead at age 36 over a half century ago, continues to apply an eerie suction on her millions of fans. We suspect those lipstick prints are regularly cleaned off and then promptly reappear.
