This tandem bicycle is one of five Roadside Giants of the Lincoln Highway. The 17-foot-high bicycle weighs nearly 2,000 pounds. The flat steel sculpture gives a nod to the many nearby bike trails in Somerset County. The Lincoln Highway evolved from the Good Roads Movement, which sought to improve roads for bicyclists.
Be sure to check out the giant Praying Mantis to the left of the bicycle.

Students at Somerset County Technology Center created this Bicycle Built for Two (17' high, weight over 1,800 lbs) for the Lincoln Highway Heritage Corridor's Roadside Giants project. This giant bicycle is "riding high" near the intersection of Routes 30 and 219 near Jennerstown. The owners of a local re-sale shop, Second Time Around, were happy to host this Roadside Giant of the Lincoln Highway on their property.
Students at this school wanted to recreate this design because of Somerset County's many bike trails, like the popular Great Allegheny Passage.
