Custer, South Dakota: Flintstones Bedrock City (Gone)
Classic kiddie TV theme park; a touchstone of two-dimensional, primary-colored 1960s cartoon reality in a cross-platformed world. Opened 1966, closed 2015, bulldozed 2019.

Flintstones Bedrock City
When visiting Bedrock City after mid-August, don't expect to see Fred and Barney walking around or driving the Fredmobile. Costumed kid workers have left for school, so the last couple of weeks before the Labor Day closing is staffed by retirees who handle the rides and snack bars.
Bedrock City is well kept up, everything painted in bright cartoon primaries. Attendance was down this past year according to the ticket taker. The three flags of USA, Canada and Mexico fly over the place.
Observation: Mr. Slate's house is not that much nicer than Fred's, despite the power imbalance at their workplace. It does have pictures of Fred begging Slate for something in the living room. The Granitebilt's home is a bit nicer, the real power in Bedrock. Mt. Rockmore's fourth head is the founder of Bedrock City.
Posing at the Flintstone Family photo op is the Goergens family of Duchesue, Utah.
