Amarillo, Texas: Guardian of the Arts
13-foot-tall statue serves as a time capsule of Amarillo art from the year 2009. It vaguely resembles the late Hunter Ingalls, who wrote an arts column for Amarillo's newspaper.

- On the south side of Plains Blvd midway between Pecos and S. Western Sts. Turn south into the Sunset Center Art Galleries parking lot; drive straight in and to the left; you'll see the Guardian in an outdoor courtyard with other statues. Six blocks south of historic Route 66.

This is cute. The building has been demolished and the statue moved, so pull further into the parking lot to see it in the statue garden.

Amarillo is truly a treasure trove of art, if you get a chance stop by and check out the art at Sunset Center.

A 13-foot statue called "Guardian of the Arts" is to be a time capsule for Amarillo Art 2009 at the end of Summer 2009. Built out of steel, it features an inside chamber that will contain the art.
This was just erected June 1st, 2009. Built by artist David Alan Corbin.
