There's street parking in front of the entrance. Enter the main entrance, then walk straight back to the rear of the cemetery to pay your respects to Our Jonnie.

Our Jonnie Tombstone

The entire cemetery is super interesting. Most of the tombstones are old and broken (although most have been repaired) and beautifully inscribed. Jonnie's tombstone was surrounded by brush that "hides" it. Not sure why??

[Lou Ann, 06/11/2015]

The film Now and Then (1995) has catapulted the Our Jonnie headstone from obscurity into the pop culture limelight, bushes or no bushes. Much of the film was shot in town.

The teddy bear is obviously a later addition, as is the fame of this formerly obscure little tombstone.

Our Jonnie Gravestone

"Our Jonnie" tombstone at the old Winchester Graveyard is significant in the plot of the movie, Now & Then (1995). The graveyard has been lovingly restored by the Randolph County Historical Museum after many years of neglect.

[Kirstin, 07/25/2009]

The "Our Jonnie" gravestone has a sculpted sleeping (or dead) child on top of it. Five-year old Jonnie Carter died in 1862.
