Forevertron

Doc Evermor is confined to a wheelchair nowadays, due to a stroke that paralyzed the left side of his body, but on a crisp October Thursday he'd taken a taxi out to the sculpture park and was receiving visitors, handing out advice ("Don't go to bed sober!"), teaching the intergalactic handshake, and telling rambling stories about bootlegging and anything else that came up.

And yes, the Forevertron, the Bird Band and all the other sculptures are about the best example of outsider art in situ that I've ever seen. Truly remarkable.

We mentioned being from North Carolina, and Doc Evermor said "Say hi to Vollis Simpson for me!"

Forevertron

Just finished crossing the US and Forevertron was the best stop on our list of sights. Tom Every is still welding and was happy to entertain visitors and discuss his work. Don't forget bug repellent; I think I collected more than 20 bites that afternoon!

The Forevertron

The Forevertron is an absolutely amazing sight! When we were there in April, and Tom and Eleanor were there. Unfortunately Tom wasn't doing too well after a series of strokes, and though slightly confused and confined to the Scion xB by his wife, he was still excited to talk to us about his creations. I'm wondering if anyone knows how he's doing now.

My family's favorite part was the bird band, as we are all very musical people. I didn't count the bird band members, but I think are more than 70 now. We had a ball wandering around the site, gawking at the amazing sculptures by Tom and his son. Tom Every is truly an artistic genius.

The Forevertron

The Forevertron coolest iron sculpture ever. We spoke with Dr. Evermore's ex-wife and he's still in pretty rough shape from some health problems he's been having. But the attraction is still everything I hoped it would be.
