Buford, Wyoming: Ames Brothers Pyramid
The Ames Brothers were fatcat 19th century industrialists, now as forgotten as the lonely, towering sagebrush pyramid that was built in their honor.

Ames Brothers Pyramid
The 2-mile road is washboard all the way. If you're towing a vehicle or trailer, you can easily unhook by I-80. Well worth the trip, lots of cool red granite littering the surrounding area, and a great view!
[Skyler1967, 07/09/2010]When I was in college at Laramie in the early 80's, there was a hole in the base of a corner of Ames Monument that a skinny person could squeeze through. Lo and behold, the Ames Monument is hollow. There's a smaller pyramid inside that was used as a base for the larger shell. It's large enough inside to climb around on. Also, on the eastern face, there's a path on the side where one can climb up to the medallion at the top without too much effort.
The hole has since been sealed, but it was something to do while you were there.
