The USA Field was planted on September 23, 2001 in memory of all of the victims of 9/11. The letters each cover over an acre and are 360 feet from top to bottom, longer than a football field. This farm was sold in October of 2011 after being maintained for ten years by Darlene and Gary Cronk, who did the orignal planting. Hope everyone enjoyed the little bit of farming!!

Looking East from Rt. 54A between Penn Yan and Branchport, it's hard to miss it. In the midst of miles of farmland, the giant letters U S A are written into the landscape. Searching the internet, I can find nothing about the history of this field, leading me to believe that it is simply the creation of a very patriotic farmer, with a little extra time on his hands. It has been there for as long as I can remember (20+) years, and has been well maintained for that entire time. Definitely worth a drive-by if you are in this scenic area.
[Wes, 09/29/2009]March 2010: Vicki writes: "Wes's discription is accurate except for the date. This was created by Gary Cronk shortly after the 9/11 catastrophe [in 2001]."
