In the 1970s, then property owner Bruce Sunkees turned a 1960s railroad boxcar into a private pedestrian covered bridge across a roadside creek.

Directions:
From the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu turn north at the stoplight onto CA-27/Topanga Canyon Blvd. Drive five miles. You'll see the boxcar on the left, across from the intersection of Highvale Trail. Private property; no trespassing.

Boxcar Bridge

An old Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe boxcar is used as a bridge to span a roadside creek, providing access to a private home. The boxcar is full-size and in great shape. It appears to be from the 1960s. Since it's private property you can't enter or climb on the car, but there's plenty of room on the road shoulder to pull off and take photos,
