St. Paul, Minnesota: Large Green Chair

Easy living in St. Paul? This large green deck chair is honored with it's own plaza and park. It's very similar, if not identical, to the large green deck chair across from Lake Calhoun in Minneapolis.

It's pretty tricky to get up in the chair, but teamwork makes the dream work! We had more success climbing from the back corner.

Pretty difficult to get up in there -- someone should add some steps or something!

Not only is the Large Green Chair a fun photo-op, it also works all the major muscle groups.

Large Green Chair

The large green chair -- does not move. That's bogus. I live blocks away and drive by it every day. It is cool. It is big. It is green. At the base of the High Bridge, near the intersection of Cliff Street and Smith Avenue.

This chair is the same chair seen in Minneapolis at West Lake Street north of Lake Calhoun. It makes its rounds between places every year. It's purchased by someone new every few years and moved to a new location, usually to attract customers. If they wanted to attract customers perhaps they need better products? Paint the chair red? Just sayin'.

We follow the large green chair. We spend our money where the large green chair tells us. Large. Green. Chair.

Green chair in winter.

Large Green Chair

Sitting in this chair would give one a great view of St. Paul's famous High Bridge and the bluffs across the Mississippi River. While more abstract, The other sculpture in this little park (a bunch of rocks in a net) is still somewhat less impressive than the contemplative grandeur of the chair. Do watch out for cars speeding down the bridge.
