Savannah, Georgia: First Girl Scout Headquarters In the U.S.
Plaques on the exterior announce "Birthplace of Girl Scouting in the United States" and depict Julliette Low, the woman who started it all in 1912. Inside are tours to view artifacts, also a gift shop. Operated by the local Girl Scout council.

- On the east side of Drayton St. between Charlton and Macon Sts. I-16 exit 167A into downtown. Bear left onto Montgomery St., then make an immediate right onto Charlton St. Drive several blocks, pass Madison Square, then turn left onto Drayton St. The headquarters' will be on the right.

First Girl Scout Headquarters Tours are given daily. This is Mecca for the Girl Scouts, and there were a lot of them touring, so beware.

Oct. 2012: Photo updated. The building dates from 1848 and served as the first Girl Scout HQ and area council offices from 1912 to 1985. It opened as a museum in 1996. Visitors can stop by at any time to view the exterior plaque though.
