I collect selfies with these Muffler Men and wanted to stop by. I read the last update about him not being at the Ford dealer and didn't want to waste the trip, so I called the dealer. The woman who answered said that the Paul Bunyan Muffler Man and Babe the Blue Ox were out front, so I decided it was worth the trip. Unfortunately, on arriving later that evening, only the ox was there. I asked a random guy driving by what had happened to the Muffler Man, and he was kind enough to guess that if Paul wasn't with Babe then he was probably being prepped for a parade or something. I think it's really cool that they use him for so much stuff, so I guess that helps with the disappointment of missing him. Also, his ox is super cute!
[Suzie, 07/22/2018]Drove all around Shelton April 10, 2018, and could not locate Paul Bunyan. Not sure where he is nowadays, but he is not at the Ford dealership address.

Paul Bunyan's current location is at 180 W. Hilbert Rd. in Shelton, on the other side of the US highway 101 at the Ford dealership at the Gillis Auto Center. He can be seen with his blue ox.
[Karin, 07/13/2017]I am the proud owner of Paul Bunyan. A couple of us people rescued Paul from the local high school after he was trashed. We put about $25,000 into restoring Paul and now he rides proudly on top of a trailer which we take Paul to many functions in Western Washington.
It has been a lot of enjoyment to have Paul do the local fair, Shelton/Mason County Forest Festival, car shows and any other show that he is asked to attend. We do the Matlock Old Timers Days in the early part of May, which is a real hoot.

I finally got a picture of our local Paul Bunyan. Others have submitted reports on our version of the Muffler Man, detailing its history, but no photos have been sent in.
This was taken in June, during the annual Mason County Forest Festival parade, in Shelton, Washington. You can see in the photo a cradle at the back of Paul's trailer. The platforms under his feet tilt back, and he rests on the cradle. This allows him to pass under overhead wires, and decreases the likelihood of a Fabio-esque collision with a goose or other flying birds!
