- North edge of town, at the Dassel History Center and Ergot Museum, which is inside the old Universal Laboratories building. Take US Hwy 12 into town, then turn north onto 1st St., just east of the BP station. Drive north on 1st St. for four blocks. The Universal Laboratories building will be on the left, at the corner of Lake St.

The Universal Laboratories museum is the home of the Dassel Area Historical Society. The main exhibits of the beautifully restored building focus on telling the story of ergot. (Ergot is a fungus that grows on grain and was used by the pharmaceutical industry.) This small town was the largest US supplier of raw ergot to drug companies for many years.
