The "junk metal" horse is a work by artist John Lopez. He is one of the sculptors of some of the presidential statues in downtown Rapid City. There are works of his all over the state: two in Lemmon (his hometown), the horse in Hill City, and two in Rapid City: a gorgeous buffalo near the Dakota Steakhouse and a pronghorn head at the South Dakota Game Fish and Parks complex. His work is very, very cool.

Spotted this metal horse driving through Hill City. It's a horse, but it's made up of different metal things. There's a wrench, shovel head, even an ax head.
Also look for a tired buffalo statue at Railroad Avenue.
