Oshkosh Muffler Man

The Oshkosh Muffler Man has been standing at Fasco Appliance for almost 40 years. Bill Leinweber purchased the giant at an auction around 1976 to stand at Fasco; he didn't know where the giant had been before that.

International Fiberglass only made the 14-foot-tall versions for a short amount of time; it is believed that only 25 or 30 of them were completed. More than likely, International Fiberglass sold this lumberjack to another business in the mid-1960s before Bill bought it at auction ten years later. The owners hope to have this giant repainted sometime in 2014.

Usually when I take a trip I will pull up a RoadsideAmerica.com map to see what attractions are in the area. Other than needing a new coat of paint, the Fasco Muffler Man is still there in all of his glory.

If driving north on US Hwy 41 take Exit 120 (Hwy. 45 and 10W) right after you cross Lake Butte des Morts. Go east 1 block and take a left on Snell Rd. It is 1 block further on the right.

Muffler Man

The muffler man is alive and well. I was cruising through the muffler man pages and it reported that he was missing. He is in front of the Fastco building on snell ave. in oshkosh as of 6/1/03.

Paul Bunyan

Paul Bunyan can try to run, but he can't hide. In front of Fasco Appliance Sales and Service, Oshkosh, WI, is the twin of the Paul Bunyan at Bunyan and Bessie's Farm in Libertyville, IL. This shy guy tries to hide by not hoisting an ax and losing the blue ox, but he's unmistakably Bunyan.
