You can't miss this circa 1925 water tower at 110th and Federal Boulevard in Westminster, Colorado. The water tank is made up to look like a giant can of mushrooms. The water tower is the only thing left of what was originally a mushroom farm and cannery owned and operated by Colorado's "Mushroom Magnate," Charles William Savery, from 1923 through 1953.
Back then, Savery saw a wonderful advertising opportunity and had the water tank at the top of the tower painted to look like one of his mushroom cans. At some point during the late 1930's the cone shaped roof on the tank was replaced with a flat one to give it a more can-like look. After years of weather and fading, the City of Westminster restored the graphic design on the water tower to it's original colors in 2006.
