- From Rutland, drive west on US 4 and then turn north onto Hwy 3. Drive four miles north. Turn left at the library onto Main St. and cross the river. At the intersection, turn right to stay on Main St. The museum will be on the right, a blue building with marble in front and smokestacks behind.

Housed in an old marble finishing factory, the Museum captures the history of the stone that built much of Washington, DC -- from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier to the Supreme Court to the Jefferson Memorial. The museum has short films, photographs, and exhibits. Perhaps your city or town has buildings made of Vermont marble!
