Many towns in the Great Lakes region have Paul Bunyan statues. But only Akeley's Bunyan has dropped to one knee to let visitors perch in his mighty palm.

Pretty unique spot. Fantastic for photos. Also has restrooms if you're on a road trip.

Free parking. Picnic tables are available, so bring along a lunch/snack. There is a free Paul Bunyan museum, but it is not open until 4 pm. A handy selfie phone holder is in front of the statue to do timed photos.

Paul Bunyan's cradle is located next to his statue in Akeley. It could easily hold a dozen people.
