Savannah, Georgia: Giant Cow Mailbox

A rural mailbox made for a giant: 30 feet tall and 16 feet long. Painted dappled black and white like a cow. Toppled by a windstorm in January 2025; its ultimate fate is uncertain.

Directions:: I-95 exit 94. Drive east on Hwy 204 about two miles to Ogeechee Rd, turn left (north), drive one mile and turn left onto Quacco Rd -- it's about 2.5 miles on the left. Also visible on the east side of I-95 at milepost 96.5.

Giant Cow Mailbox

The huge cow mailbox became a victim of heavy winds. When I saw it in January it was on its side, with its red flag still up, in the field next to the pole.

The mailbox is back. We saw it from I-95 on 2-17-2023. Painted like a cow. Pretty cool.

The mailbox is gone. The blue marked stake where the mailbox previously stood is still there, but not the mailbox.

The property owner who built the mailbox said he took it down to accommodate a road widening project. He plans to put it back up when the construction is completed.

Giant Cow Mailbox

The big mailbox sticks up out of the property at 1017 Quacco Road. An ornate metal gate featuring cows and a tractor identifies it as on the Hopeton Plantation.
