I live in Panama City and can say the statue no longer exists. Panama City Beach Town Council won a legal battle to have it torn down. I was one of hundreds that signed a petition to save it. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough. It was torn down in late 2004.

[Dean Jeffrey, 05/04/2003]King Neptune, formerly Viking "Sir Loin"
On hwy. 98, there is a statue called "King Neptune." It is between two and three stories tall and holds a giant tristaff, and is incredibly tacky. It was originally made by the owners of a steak house, who fashioned it to look like a viking and called it "Sir Loin." You can still see where his stereotypical viking stuff was painted over.

Here's a photo we snapped last summer of mighty King N. Nearby is a large longhorn steer in front of Angelo's Steak Pit. Feb. 2002 - Don Mixon writes: "King Neptune was converted from a Viking in 1987. I know because I made the crown with my own hands! It is made of 24 gauge sheet metal, is 4 ft. tall and has a circumference of 12 ft. (By the way, the 3-pointed spear is called a Trident.)"
