Tryon, North Carolina: Wavy Keyboard Statue of Nina Simone
Nina Simone, "The High Priestess of Soul," was born in Tryon in 1933 as Eunice Kathleen Waymon. Her bronze statue nimbly plays a floating, undulating keyboard in front of the old town theater.

- On I-26 take the Columbus exit go down hwy 108 and you will be on Lynn Rd. go through Lynn and the road branches, stay on 108 and you will come to Tryon, N Trade St, (highway 176 east) you will come into the town and go straight and you will see the Tryon Horse, statue is on other side across from the old movie theatre, plenty of parking.

Simone died in 2003. Her daughter gave some of Nina's ashes to sculptor Zenos Frudakis, who sealed them in a bronze heart within the statue's chest.
