Meteor Crater

We found the crater interesting and learned new things, which is always nice! However, we found the entrance fee pricey at $65 for family of 4 (2 parents, 1 adult teen, 1 minor teen). Would be worth it if there were a sizable reduced rate for students. At current rates, it's a one and done visit.

No dogs allowed. If you have a smaller dog in a kennel they'll keep it near the entrance for you.

Just as you turn off of I-40 (Old Route 66) toward Meteor Crater there is this structure off in the distance behind fences and "no trespassing" signs...thank you 300mm lens! This was Meteor Crater Observatory, built in the 1930s for folks to see Meteor Crater without having to hike to it.

Meteor Crater - Barringer Crater

Meteor Crater is worth the trip. We were traveling with a dog. Pets are not allowed to enter. We only did the self-guided walk quickly as we didn't want our dog to get too hot in the car.

Meteor Crater - Barringer Crater

Price was well worth it. Very interesting museum and tour, plus you can explore on your own. Has a dedication wall to every astronaut from the inception of NASA. Great gift shop and tons of photo ops. Also good for the disabled. Under mass construction right now, so you have to hike a hill to get to the pay booth.
