The Oceanside Historical Society has posted an informational sign outside the Graves House, built in 1887, which is popularly known as the "Top Gun House." The vacant house is freshly painted, and decorated with historical murals on the plywood covering the windows. The sign mentions: "Complete house restoration pending hotel development on this site." So it may yet be leveled or moved.

Hurry up, this is beginning to see the end of its time here. It is starting to fall apart and I believe that someone has purchased it and is planning to move it!

I had friends who actually rented this house back in 1987. I occasionally hung out there back then. I haven't been back in years, though....

Only a year after the movie came out? Like living in a little piece of pop movie history. Bet everyone had cool fighter pilot nicknames!

Top Gun House

In the 1986 movie Top Gun, this is the house the female love interest [Kelly McGillis as "Charlie"] lived in and was visited by Tom Cruise via motorcycle after playing volleyball. The house has a great view of the ocean, only a couple blocks from the Oceanside Pier.

All of the other houses on the block have been torn down and this nice little house is beginning to fall apart.

Since the Top Gun bar burned down, TG fans will have to settle for this while it lasts.
