August long weekend is Icelandic Fest. A working Viking village is set up, food trucks, beverage gardens, carnival rides! Very busy but a lot of fun! And yes, there is parking for all the out-of-towners! And a parade with Icelandic Dignitaries. It's a big deal for a small town!

The Gimli Viking statue is on the shore of Lake Winnipeg. The Viking statue represents the large Icelandic community that lives in the area. The 15 foot statue was unveiled in 1976 and is one of the main attractions in Gimli.
